MEECH Customers Have This to Say...

Phil Passantino...

“MEECH has made me two wonderful frames and a great custom fork. I asked him to copy an old 1950’s Rudge Fork, he changed the threading to modern English, increased the hub width to 100mm, and painted it beautifully. The cyclocross frame was very custom, a cross between a touring bike and cyclocross frame. Beautiful in every way, light and wonderful brazing. The last frame I’m still building. This is a 650B touring frame, similar to the French Alex Singer. Modern 135mm rear spacing, modern tubing from True Temper and Columbus. Very light and has everything on it you can imagine, including front rack braze-ons. He painted my racks and bottle cages to match the accent color of black cherry to go along with the gold main tube colors. Beautiful fillet-brazing and custom lugs. It is amazing what he can do with the tubes. Very happy about it all. A pleasure to deal with.”

Steve Jauch...

“Not only is Dimitri a great person to deal with but he can build a great frame. My MEECH is the nicest riding frame I own. It fits great and melts away when I’m riding. I don’t notice anything but the pain in my legs and lungs from riding. On some of my other bikes I can never really get comfortable and settle in. The MEECH allows me to just ride and not get caught up in thinking about the bike under me. Wow, I can’t believe riding can feel this good. This frame is really the nicest ride of the five or six bikes that I own.”

Ryan Vanstone...

“Working with Dimitri on my bike build was a blast. His enthusiasm about frame building is contagious. I loved that at anytime I was thinking about anything bicycle related, I could call him up and we would go over the pros and cons of my ideas. The frame was finished before expected and lived up to my highest expectations. The bicycle fits and rides wonderful. If I ever pull the trigger on a 29er, he will be the first person I call.”

Jam Mohammed Afana...

“My name is Jam Afana (Mohammed) and I met MEECH over 10 years ago. We lived in the same homestay in Granada, Spain. We had an incredible experience when we rode our bicis to “la playa” in Motril. It was awesome because we did not speak each other’s language and we did not know Spanish very well, (pero ahora si, hablamos bien el Espanol, LOL.) Hace unos anos que Dimitri me regalo un cuadro de los que el fabrica con sus manos. I think it was MEECH #4. I have to say that it is a beautiful frame and I want to thank you my friend. I keep tracking your website and I see that you are building some nice frames. You are incredible handmaker. Sigue con tu sueno amigo, espero volver a verte de nuevo y espero poder hacer otra vez el viaje desde Granada a Motril en nuestros bicis.”

Jim Holsted...

“I was riding a Trek Madone, but on long rides I experienced pain in my shoulders and back. The problem persisted and I determined that the bike was too small and since it was the largest frame available from Trek, I decided I would need a custom frame. I read many reviews and kept coming back to a couple that extolled the advantages of steel frames. I decided to try one and contacted Dimitri Harris to fit me for a frame. I was concerned about the time frame as I got the new frame and two weeks later left for Colorado to the Ride the Rockies event. I rode 6 days, 480 miles, and climbed over 26,000 feet. The bike fit perfectly and the performance was outstanding. I’m convinced a steel frame was the best choice.”

“I have worked in the bicycle industry for 18 years now. I love my career and take it very seriously. After too many years riding bikes that were not custom, I decided to take the plunge. It was not easy for me to imagine paying retail for a bike frame and I could just never seem to find the right person to get the job done. I stumbled across Dimitri online after seeing his bikes at a few cross races. After talking to him, I discovered that he and I share many values when it comes to the execution of our crafts. We talked about the bike I wanted and worked out the differences we had in mind for it together and I’m loving the finished product. The bike rides so smoothly and is very stable in dicey conditions. I was very surprised to find that even with a steel fork, it was almost as light as my alloy race bike from the last year. I think it will be hard for me to go back to riding anything other than a custom bike in the future. It is not for everyone, but for those with a discerning taste in bicycles, it is the best investment in your recreation that you can make.”
